Garth Gilmore and Cindy Bedford, two abused teenagers in Windhoek, Namibia, struggle to live normal lives while carrying their debilitating pasts.Garth rejects the notion that he needs to change, resorts to gambling and crime and scorns emotions such as love and compassion. Cindy battles to come to terms with her past, trying to replace her anger with love and empathy.Garth treats Cindy's love for him with indifference and her attempts to help him cost her dearly. She perseveres, believing that love will always triumph over apathy. Garth, addicted to gambling, turns to robbery to support his habit. He accidentally kills his first victim and Cindy finds out. She becomes Garth's accomplice and the couple commit two more robberies before the police trace them.
